Designed by architect Frank Van Klingeren in the early 1970s, Het Karregat was a community centre where a café, a sports hall or a library created favourable circumstances for people to live together in a way that exudes the utopian spirit of the time. Wendelien Van Oldenborgh goes back to the place today to see what’s left of this architectural dream. Most importantly, he uses it as an opportunity to invent a new form of cinematographic conversation, with the camera literally inviting itself in the discussion.
