Economy of the Unlost will be filmed in Athens, Greece at the offices and studios of the now defunct national broadcaster ERT, still in only partial use as public media network. A steadicam will move through the various administrative offices, storage rooms, partially-used production studios, and soundstages of the Radiomegaro building in Athens, from the ground floor upwards, in a sequence of linked tracking shots. From room to room, the camera seems to know where it is going, and finally arrives in the now disused studio set of the former newsroom. The blunt rectilinearity of the building forces the screen itself to divide, and a chorus of digital graphics displays the political and economic data shaping contemporary Greece, using the same charts, diagrams and animated schematics that we know from television news. A voiceover narration, in German, Greek, and English, unfolds alongside the images, questioning and countering their contents.Benjamin Tiven
