One the one hand, Nazli Dinçel takes inspiration from experimental cinema’s historical techniques: she uses 16mm film which she hand-processes by scratching the rolls, etching words to achieve the effect of a slight tremble between perfection and imperfection. On the other hand, her short films are autobiographical fragments that combine the themes of immigration, desire, sexuality and love. The minimalism of her language and repetitiveness of her texts bring to mind the rhetorics of fables. (JPR)
