Key instruments of the patient, ideological offensive initiated in the 1940s by a small group of staunch capitalists, think tanks have since experienced an incredible rise. In fact, these “research institutes” of the liberal and conservative right have seen their numbers explode into a vast nebulous during the second half of the 20th century. In addition, their inextricable network, which they have woven between themselves with the media, academic institutions, political parties, business associations, and multilateral institutions, knows how to make its voice heard whenever and wherever they deem necessary. Their ideas, omnipresent and relayed from link to link, create a deafening background that drowns out all counter-arguments.
Not only do think tanks play a leading role in shaping current ideology and public policies, they are not strangers either to the re-emergence of the right throughout the world. This film aims to draw a portrait of right-wing think tanks through the reflections and analyses of their authors and employees, and through scenes observing the daily life and different activities of these institutes.Richard Brouillette
