Brought about by ethnomusicologist Robert Lachman’s outspokenness when he asked for educated opinions in 1936, which he chose to follow or not, when faced with the insults and criticism to which research on music in Palestine is subjected, Jumana Manna’s film crosses territories. At a crossroads of customs and traditions, practices and archives, field and influences, the magic in the film’s title is mystical and above all else domestic.
