LE FILM DU JAPON

Xavier Veilhan

Various objects, including a spear and a metallic disk, are handled by acrobat dancers to create short stylised scenes mimicking jumps, fights and dances. Sculpture animates the bodies and becomes choreography. For this first film, shot during an exhibition in Kitakyushu in Japan, Xavier Veilhan drew his inspi- ration from sources as diverse as Marey’s scientific decomposition or Mélies’ burlesque comedy.
