DIAMOND SEA

Doug Aitken

What do we see? A bird’s eye view of a desert, the ground, disused factories: a gutted out, ravaged land. Doug Aitken filmed the Diamond Area in Namibia: a 75,000 square kilometres region, now inaccessible and the property of a defunct industry. A ghostly electronic score of crashes, squeals and whines helps recreate this crepuscular, ruined landscape. (NF)
