DESIRE IS NOT MUCH BUT NONETHELESS…

Marine Hugonnier

The Sleeping Hermaphroditus, a famous antique sculpture in The Louvre, is lasciv- iously asleep upon a mattress sculpted by Bernini. Hermes and Aphrodite’s son is revealed little by little by a gentle, enveloping, indecent camera. From the toe to the head and back, and then again, it unveils his bisexuality, while other images suddenly appear like gaps. What is he dreaming about? From gazes to dreams, what are desires made of?
