LA MARCHE TURQUE

Ziad Antar

This being the immensely well-known “Turkish March” by Mozart, here played by pianist Matea Maras on a stringless piano. By drawing our attention whilst keys are being futilely played, Ziad Antar challenges our memory and blurs our listening. Very ironically, the Lebanese artist questions the topicality of past types of vision touched by Orientalism, their immutability as well as their relevance today. (NF)
