The people of the mountainous region of Yunnan owe their meager income to agriculture. Every year, in an effort to improve their conditions, young boys and girls leave their villages and settle down in the industrial suburb of Shanghai. They work in factories and live in tiny studio apartments. They are isolated from each other because they lack the time and space to meet. Each apartment becomes a world, not only a room, but also a miniature village. The Internet acts as a virtual window, allowing them to communicate, to preserve the appearance of a social link, and maybe to fall in love… Once a year, on Chinese New Year, they travel 2500 km together across the country, back up the Yangtze River, to home.
