For over twenty years—and this is one of its distinctive features—FIDMarseille has fostered an active dialogue between cinema and contemporary art. Alongside its film programme, the festival regularly develops exhibitions and installations in collaboration with both institutional and independent spaces. These projects extend the experience of film screenings into the exhibition space and explore the practices of artists whose work moves fluidly between moving images, sculpture, painting, and installation.
In this context, FIDMarseille in partnership with the art gallery sissi club, presents an exhibition dedicated to the Portuguese duo Mariana Caló and Francisco Queimadela, whose practice sits at the intersection of experimental cinema, artistic research, and territorial observation. Their works weave connections between landscapes, gestures, organic forms, and systems of signs. Through analog film, drawing, photography, and painting, they develop a visual language that intertwines mythology, image archaeology, and a careful attention to the transformations of both the natural and urban worlds.
