Throughout the year, FIDMarseille extends the life of the films selected for its summer editions through a programme of screenings in Marseille, across France and internationally, as well as by devising, with numerous partners, revivals, thematic series and carte blanche programmes.
Each month, the CinéFID events present exceptional screenings of undistributed films, preview screenings of new or restored works, with filmmakers in attendance, either in the FID’s own screening room or at partner cinemas. FIDMarseille also develops co-programmed series with institutions in the performing arts and visual arts, in collaboration in particular with the Théâtre de la Criée in Marseille, the Volksbühne in Berlin, La Gaya Scienza in Nice and the Collection Lambert in Avignon. In addition, many institutions and festivals – such as Actoral, the Cinémathèque française, the Jeu de Paume, Regards Satellites, Aflam and the London French Film Festival – regularly entrust FIDMarseille with carte blanche programmes.
The festival is also behind Godard, au contraire, a travelling research and monthly programming project devoted to the legacy of Jean-Luc Godard and the future of his cinema. This initiative is carried out in partnership with the Centre national des arts plastiques, Alphabetville, Videodrome2 and the Institut national de l’audiovisuel, with the support of the Cinémathèque du Documentaire.
Since 2022, every September, FIDMarseille has also been hosted at the Saint-André des Arts cinema in Paris for a condensed reprise of its summer edition.
Finally, for the past four years, FID avant le FID has offered Marseille audiences a preview of the summer edition through an eclectic programme that remains true to the diversity and rigour of the cinema championed by the festival.
