Who are we?
FIDMarseille is an international film festival held each year at the beginning of summer in the heart of Marseille. Its programme features numerous world and international premieres, showcasing around a hundred films - fiction and documentary, artist films, short and feature-length. Attuned to singular voices and emerging forms, FID is a key festival for independent cinema, internationally recognized for its vital role in uncovering new talents and pioneering cinematic discoveries. As part of its programme, FIDMarseille pays tribute to major figures in cinema and contemporary art by dedicating extensive retrospectives to them.
Placing particular importance on conviviality and rich exchanges, debates, meetings and discussions begin in the morning in front of the screening rooms and continue late into the night in the festive spaces open to festival-goers.
Each edition is accompanied by FIDLab, an international co-production platform, and FIDCampus, a training residency dedicated to students from art and film schools in European and Mediterranean countries.
Throughout the year, FIDMarseille brings the films presented at the festival to life by organising screenings in Marseille, France and internationally, devising programmes and carte blanche events with numerous partners, and running outreach initiatives and film education workshops for a wide range of audiences.
