Yarema Malashchuk, Roman Himey
Taking its title from Walt Whitman, this is the latest fruit of an ongoing psychogeographic project by two Kyiv-based artists hailing from the western city of Kolomyia, Yarema Malashchuk (b. 1993) and Roman Khimei (b. 1992). Conceived, like their later To Whom Have You Abandoned Us, Our Father? , as an amphibious installation/film, it is an experimental fictional diptych centred around a teenage flaneur. A first half of elliptical fragments observes him navigating a suburb; the second half, comprising one masterful tracking shot, follows the lad as he engrossingly narrates and microcosmically restages a city-dérive .
