LOVES OF A BLOND

Miloš Forman

Placing Les Amours d’une Blonde here at the festival’s closing is our way of saying goodbye to Miloš Forman, who recently passed away. It is, above all, a way of showing, as you have certainly understood, that Miloš Forman is still here among us, alive and well, and embodying – as few rarely do – such immense vitality at the heart of film practice. What he has left us with is nothing less than the legacy, in images and sounds, of an exemplary power of a rmation. This third feature-length film, produced in 1965 and belonging to Forman’s Czech period, gravitates around the forces of youth and love. Nothing about the scenario will be disclosed here: in a sense, the title sums it all up. We only sincerely wish for you to come and discover this film, if you do not know it; for you to watch it again, in a restored copy, if it has already struck a chord in your memory.
