During a year’s residency in the heart of the Lycée Thiers in Marseille, the directors suggested the invention of a poetic dream sequence exploring the intimate rapport, which exists between the pupils and their school. To clarify: summoned one by one, members of a small group of pupils meet the headmistress played by the professional actress, Sophie Cattini. Her Beckettian acting style is interspersed in an original and robust way with that of the children, who represent both the prey and rebels against authority, discipline and rules. During these encounters, each pupil reveals his or her own individuality and emotions, throwing the Headmistress into fluctuating states of irritation, incredulity and compassion.
