Marcelo Novais Teles, a young Brazilian, moves to Paris to find work as an actor. While caught in an intense personal and professional life, he takes the time to document the lives of people around him as he goes along. Dinner parties, celebrations, rehearsals, meetings with friends and families, falsely profound conversations, trips around Europe, moves, etc. L’Exilé is a radiant edit of these sequences: a home movie retracing Marcelo’s unshakeable happiness in all the radiance, joy and beauty of youth. The juvenile faces of actors who have since become famous occasionally crop up, bringing added charm to these innocent images. A self-portrait that becomes a portrait of a generation, where art meets art-de-vivre as the land of exile becomes a land of happiness.(JPR)
