Return to Vega follows Mic, a Millennial queer nightlife gig worker out on a night of cruising in present day Mexico City. Told over the course of one night, and divided into 3 chapters in 3 clandestin nightlife spaces, this panorama unravels a story of sexual desire, gender, and intergenerational queer experience.

Note of intention

Return to Vega is my debut feature film. It’s a project that originated from my ongoing short documentary anthology Subterraneans. It includes my short film Grand Central Hotel with Terre Thaemlitz (FIDMarseille 2021). My special interest in the ambiguous and transient cultural|social contexts of nightlife was established early on as a DJ, producer, and archivist more than 15 years ago. Like the series, this film preoccupies itself with nocturnal working class labor, alienation, gender, sexuality, performance, and culture. Return to Vega frames the private instability of existence and the political conditions of our present through the lens of contemporary art house cinema.
