Cats mysteriously disappear in a small beach town. The laid-back life of Bruno – a white 25-year-old surfer – is shaken after he witnesses a white man disposing cat bodies. Meanwhile, his girlfriend Luara, a 26-year-old black math teacher, tries to get along with a serious allergy while protecting a misfit student from bullying. The cats are stressed and the dogs bark at something that can’t be seen. Ivy, Luara’s cousin, also has restless with dreams that mix life and an imminent tsunami. The signs of missing cats multiply by the city lampposts. As an involuntary detective, the evidence falls into Bruno’s lap, but he refuses to move. With Bruno’s dangerous paralysis, it is Luara and Ivy who will have to find a way to contain a greater tragedy and try to save themselves. Cats meow as the night falls and the cat killer’s hate motivation becomes more glaring.
