A poet, writer, and filmmaker from Marseille, Florence Pazzottu is a regular at the FID. Three of her films, made between 2022 and 2026, will be screened again in the presence of the director on Tuesday, 13 October, in the FIDMarseille screening room.

A woman and a man investigate, persist, and sing: ‘We’ve always lost something, lost since forever already, but we’re looking for something small, and that’s enough for us day after day’. Between hieroglyphs printed by birds on the sand of the Camargue and an equation borrowed from Edgar Allan Poe, the enigma must be solved.

A woman sweeps the floor, then hands the broom to a man: he sweeps a bit, and hands it back to her. In this film, named after Vasari’s biography of Giorgione, man and woman reenact Manet and Titian, switch places, and in so doing, exchange their nudity and the gaze that seeks it. In voiceover, a woman reads a letter telling of her efforts to sign up her daughter in daycare ; other kafkaesque situations follow, drawing with humour the picture of a life of submission to an absurd administrative power.
