Ted Fendt (b. 1989 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an independent filmmaker. He received his BA from New York University and has since worked as a translator and projectionist in New York City and Berlin. He is known for his 16mm films including Broken Specs (2012), Short Stay (2016), Classical Period (2018) and Outside Noise (FID 2021, special mention to the International Competition Award). His work has been shown in many international film festivals including the Berlinale, Viennale, New York Film Festival, Jeonju International Film Festival, FIDMarseille, as well as many other venues. He edited a book on Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet for the Austrian Film Museum in 2016 and regularly translates film criticism into English, including pieces by Harun Farocki, Gerhard Friedl, Luc Moullet, Benoît Turquety, and Nicole Brenez. He is currently working on two film projects with and without actors.
