FIDLab 2021 Palmares

FIDLab 2021

The 13th edition of FIDLab took place online from June, 14th to 18th.

Out of more than 500 international applications, 16 projects reflecting 15 production countries were part of the 2021 selection of FIDLab, the international co-production platform of FIDMarseille.

FIDLab continues ! On July 12th and 13th, during the Cannes Film Festival, two days of one-to-one meetings between the producers of the FIDLab selected projects and the international professionals attending the Festival, will take place, with the support of Région Sud.

Colombian producer Diana Bustamante Escobar (Burning), Italian curator Leonardo Bigazzi (Fondazione in Between Art Film), and David Schwartz, manager of theatrical programming for Netflix (Paris Theater, Manhattan), were the three prominent members of the FIDLab jury. Thanks to their insights and commitment, 9 in-kind prizes, provided by longtime FIDLab partners, are awarded to winning projects, offering them valuable, high quality technical and logistical resources.

Air France prize


The Air France prize goes to :
MORIR DE PIE

The laureate will receive two Air France tickets for a long-haul flight.

Casa de Velázquez / ECAM prize


The Casa de Velázquez / ECAM prize goes to :
NUNCA SERÉ POLICíA
by Carolina Moscoso, produced by Transparaíso / Chile

The prize winner is offered a two-month residency at La Casa de Velázquez and the free use of filming and editing equipment of ECAM, in the framework of the school’s OpenECAM programme.

Commune Image prize


The Commune Image prize goes to :
IT IS AT THIS POINT THAT THE NEED TO WRITE HISTORY ARISES
by Constanze Ruhm, produced by Stenar Project / Portugal, Austria

This award consists of an 8 week access to Commune Image editing facilities and use of their equipment.

Camargo Foundation prize


The Camargo Foundation prize goes to :
DEAD LANDS
by Daniel Mann, produced by Laila Films / Israel

This prize is a 4 to 8 week residency at the Camargo Foundation for the awarded director.

Kodak-Silverway prize


The Kodak-Silverway prize goes to:
BOGANCLOCH
by Ben Rivers, produced by Urth Films / UK, and Akkeri Films / Iceland

The laureate will receive celluloid reels offered by Kodak and their development by Silverway Paris.

Mactari prize


The Mactari prize goes to:
DIALOGUES D’EXILÉS
by Eyal Sivan, produced by Momento Films / France

The winner will be granted access to Mactari’s sound editing and/or sound mixing studio facilities.

Micro Climat Studios prize


The Micro Climat Studios prize goes to:
REESCRITURA
by Víctor Iriarte, produced by 4 A 4 / France, La Termita Films / Spain, and Atekaleun / Spain

The winner will receive one of the following post-production services : image editing, sound editing, color grading or conforming.

Sublimages prize


The Sublimages prize goes to:
A NIGHT OF KNOWING NOTHING
by Payal Kapadia, produced by Petit Chaos / France, and Another Birth / India

Sublimages provides the winning project with the translation of subtitles into English, French, or Spanish, as well as their adaptation and localization.

Vidéo de Poche prize


The Vidéo de Poche prize goes to:
TWITTERING SOUL
by Deimantas Narkevicius, produced by Just a Moment / Lithuania

The winning project will receive a color grading service (5 days in their studio with a technician) and the creation of a DCP.
