This year, the promotion agency SWISS FILMS is partnering with various European film festivals to present films and coproductions from Switzerland that have been nominated for or have won a European Film Award. The occasion for this ‘Tour d’Europe’ is the 2024 ceremony of the European Film Awards, which will take place in Lucerne in December. FIDMarseille joins this event by programming Swiss director Cyril Schäublin’s first feature film, Those who are fine.
Alice works in a call center in the outskirts of Zurich, selling internet subscriptions and insurance deals to strangers on the other end of the line. After work she walks through the city, which seems to function without any friction. Inspired by her job, she calls lonely grandmothers and pretends to be their granddaughter in urgent need of money. As she quickly makes a fortune with this trick, the film portrays and explores various places and people in the city of Zurich, all strangely connected to Alice’s deed.
This is the first film from the director of the acclaimed Désordres (FID 2022).
