From Copenhagen’s botanical garden to the immensity of the Mexican forest, artist Pia Rönicke wanders around and stoops down: black and white, sometimes in color, she’s filming leaves. Ferns, herbaceous, tree leaves, all of these draw a landscape whose traced lines are as fine as they are diverse. Just written on the images, sometimes, spoken off camera; otherwise, we learn the proper nouns of each of these universes. « Forest of symbols… », would have suggested Baudelaire; here metaphor dwells in literality.
