Le fils de l’ombre, Son of shadow

Chabel Paoulo Ngoubili-Likibi

Republic of the Congo, 2025, Color, 9’

At the age of seven, Alain is torn away from his childhood and forcibly recruited during the civil war. He learns to survive where he should have been growing up. Years later, scarred by invisible wounds and rejected by society, he is reintegrated into the army, as if his fate could never escape war. Through his intimate testimony, Children of the Shadow paints a sensitive portrait of a man haunted by his past, trapped in a cycle of violence he struggles to break free from.
