In Transit opens with a jittery video call: a woman tours the houseplants left in her care in the wake of displacement. These plants become emotional proxies for the absent, their wilting and growth articulating geographies of unrest and the indelible scars of conflict. As memory drifts to chart the quiet labor of survival, a rift emerges between two worlds: those who remain to endure latent violence, and those who have left to decode death from afar.

Carla Aouad
Carla Aouad is a visual artist based in Marseille and Beirut. A 2025 graduate of the Beaux-Arts de Marseille (DNSEP), her practice spans moving image, sculpture, illustration, and performance. Aouad explores the material residues of systemic collapse, tracing the afterlife of objects to find a rhizomatic memory, one held between the fragment and the chorus, the living and the absent. Her work has been featured at the Beirut Art Center (LB), the Sursock Museum (LB), The Mosaic Rooms (UK) and Friche la Belle de Mai (FR) and received the Mophradat’s Artists Fellowship in 2023.
