I Am Gagarin, I Am Gagarin

First an investigation into the disappearance of Vanya, who used to organise rave parties in Russia, the Gagarin Parties, the film doubles up as the self-portrait of a woman who was twenty in the 1990s when USSR collapsed. Olga Darfy films fragments, archives, while trying to reconstruct the end of her adolescence. The dance from the third act of Swan Lake comes to life over a video saturation, as the assertion of a freedom, well beyond mere nostalgia.
