General Informations

FIDLab is open to film projects from all countries, fictions as well as documentaries, whether they are at the stage of writing, development, production or post-production. Befor submitting a project, we invite you to read closely the FIDLab regulations below.

The FIDLab receives every year more than 400 projects. These figures are constantly growing. We thank all the directors and producers who trust us by sending their projects to the FIDLab selection.

In order to give the best care to the films and to improve our selection process, FIDLab submissions are charged with a 40€ fee. The payment process will be available once your film project is submitted. You will then be able to pay
- by paypal
- by credit card via payline.

Registration of film projects must be done exclusively online. The deadline to submit a project is March 3rd. 

The 17th edition of FIDLab will be held on Thursday July 10 and Friday July 11, 2025, during the 36th edition of FIDMarseille (July 8 – 13, 2025).

To register a project, directors/producers must complete a registration form via Eventival (procedure below). In this form, visuals, links to previous films and an application file (PDF) will also be submitted.

Depending on the progress of each projects, the application file must consist of at least:
- Director’s biofilmography (1 page)
- Profile of the production company and producer’s biofilmography (if any) (1page)
- Synopsis (1 page)
- Treatment (3 to 6 pages max)
- Director’s statement (2-3 pages max)
- Production’s statement (if any) (2-3 pages max)
- Global budget of the film
- Financial outline for the project, indicating what percentage of the financing is already in place
- Links to director’s previous films.
- Optional: letters from partners involved in the project

The number of pages corresponds to the calibration of the texts before layout. The selection committee reserves the right to request additional information, if necessary.

Decisions will be made based on the quality of the project and previous works as well as the producer’s commitment to the project.

FIDLab Regulations

Article 1
FIDLab, the international coproduction platform of the FIDMarseille, arose from a desire to help jump-start the production of fragile and unusual works. Neither a market nor a forum for promotion, the FIDLab wants to create a dynamic framework where production and artistic activities can intersect and expand. Selected filmmakers will be invited for the duration of the FIDLab where they will be able to benefit from the privileged environment offered by the festival, thereby increasing their production potential.

Article 2
There will be an annual call for entries and registration will be online on the website of the festival www.fidmarseille.org. Registration fee is 40 €.

Article 3

Article 4
Selected producers and directors of the selected projects are invited to attend the FIDLab (based on a lump sum amount allocated for travel and accommodation) during its duration (3 days) They are committed to attend in order to present their project to the professional audience and take pat on meetings with the jury and guests. They are active participants in the daily program of films, meetings and events.

Article 5
The FIDLab will organize for each director/producer individual meetings with producers, distributors, sellers, fund representatives and international sponsors. After the festival, the FIDLab will provide a follow-up for contacts, accompanying the filmmakers and producers until their films are finished. Upon arrival in Marseille, all participants will be given a schedule of meetings that they agree to respect.

Article 6
The directors/producers of the selected projects agree to furnish to the staff of the FIDLab the necessary elements for the promotion of their projects to be included in the FIDLab catalogue. They undertake to hold the rights to all material provided for communication (visuals) or to provide copyright free elements.

Article 7
The FIDLab catalogue, sent to international professionals all over the world will also be available as a pdf on the website www.fidmarseille.org. It will remain available after the event on the archives section of the website.

Article 8
Prior to the event, the FIDLab staff will arrange individual meetings with directors/producers in order to prepare their presence at IFDLab and the presentation of the project.

Article 9
During the festival, filmmakers are expected to make a public presentation of their projects. The idea is to show images or visual references that will help to understand the film in gestation; this may include rushes, clips from other films as potential influences, composed photos, sequences, and other elements that will enable the viewer to better understand the project. The presentation will last around 15 minutes (max).

Article 10 :
All films that result from a project presented at the FIDLab must include in its credits the following credit:

Project presented at the FIDLab + FIDLab logo.

Online film project registration via Eventival

You will be redirected to your Eventival account, where you can easily regenerate your password if you forget it.
Also choose this option if you have already obtained accreditation for the festival.

I am submitting a film for the first time:
You will be redirected to an Eventival website that allows you to manage your professional information and your relations with the festival.
All data contained on this site is the property of FIDMarseille and will not be divulged to a third party under any circumstances.

Once you have logged in to your Eventival account

At the end of the film registration process, you will be able to choose between saving the changes (Save changes) and registering the film definitively (Submit film).

Clicking on "Save changes" means that you will be able to modify your registration as many times as you like before you register it definitively.

Clicking on "Submit film" means that your registration is definitive and that you are certain not to make any changes.
