Hommage à Paul Otchakovsky-Laurens

Le livre est affaire physique. De sa naissance comme exercice d’écriture jusqu’à la pratique de sa lecture, en passant bien sûr par sa fabrication concrète, un livre est matière. Explorer, sans exhaustivité aucune, les diversités de ce matériau, c’est ce que nous proposons ici. Ce sera notre manière de rendre hommage, en images animées, à la passion de feu notre président Paul Otchakovsky-Laurens. Passion plurielle en vérité. Pour le livre, cela s’entend, et son film Éditeur (2017) raconte comme de juste son métier à la première personne ; pour le cinéma, tout autant – son étroite complicité avec l’aventure du FID en était un exemple parmi d’autres. Sa présence à nos côtés, est-il besoin de le rappeler, marquait et revendiquait explicitement la complicité imaginée, pensée et pratiquée par le FID entre pratiques d’écritures cinématographiques et pratiques d’écritures livresques. Dans ce programme qui se déclinera dans les salles autant que sur les murs d’exposition, seront privilégiés des films ou travaux d’artistes récents. On y trouvera surtout des îlots de singularité, tel le film ★ de Johann Lurf consacré aux étoiles dans les cieux du cinéma depuis son début : signes typographiques écrits en lumière sur fond noir, salut adressé à Paul. Mais aussi, La Pure Nécessité de l’artiste néerlandais Claerbout, une version revisitée, toute mutique, du Livre de la Jungle de Disney, reprise ici après avoir rogné tout dialogue, tout anthropomorphisme, façon de laisser entendre et voir le silence puisant des animaux de la jungle. Ou encore ce quadruple portrait de lectrices et lecteurs dans Readers (2017) du fameux cinéaste James Benning. Vous le voyez, de la nuit étoilée à la blancheur de la page mouchetée de noir, d’animaux majestueux aux visages concentrés des lecteurs, un paysage se déploie en livre d’images.
