CALL FOR FILMS 2026

The films and programmes proposed for selection and competing in the official selection must be produced on or after 1st January 2025. Anyone submitting a film to the festival must mention whether it is a first film. Films of any length may be entered in the selection. All media (film, video) may be entered. Authors may submit several films, but only one film may be selected for the competitions. All non-French-speaking films submitted for selection and viewing by the programming team must be in the original version and with English subtitles.

Films are eligible to compete in different sections:
1 - Official Selection
- International Competition
- French Competition
- First Film Competition
- Flash Competition (short films)
- GNCR Competition
- Out of competition: Other Jewels

2 - Retrospectives, tributes, thematic programmes, cartes blanches and all special screenings.
The selection committee decides without appeal on the sections in which the films are presented. Advertising or institutional films are not admitted.

The following projection media will be accepted exclusively:
- DCP (image and sound quality must comply with CST recommendations)
- 35 mm

Registrations are open until
- 31 January 2026 for films produced in 2025
- 15 March 2026 for films produced in 2026
The fee is set at €25 for short films (duration less than 60 minutes) and €50 for long films (duration greater than or equal to 60 minutes). Registrations can only be made on the website www.fidmarseille.org. Online registration files must include at least one viewing link (with a password if necessary). As the viewing is exclusively online, please check that the viewing links provided at the time of registration will work at least until the end of the festival. The registration of the film will be validated after verification that all the expected data have been filled in. Whoever registers the film guarantees the information indicated on the registration form. The registration of a film implies full and complete acceptance of these rules.

The Selection Committee chooses the films for the Official Selection. All films that meet the eligibility criteria are watched (for security reasons, the no-tracking mode is enabled on the team’s devices) and evaluated by the Selection Committee.The decisions of the selection committee will be communicated to the rights holders of the selected films by e-mail on 30 May 2026 at the latest. The directors and/or producers of the selected films commit themselves to follow the technical charter of the festival which will be sent after confirmation of the selection of their film. The directors and/or producers of the selected films agree to send all the information requested by the festival for the communication around the film. The director and the rights holder(s) of the selected film(s) agree not to withdraw after the official announcement of the festival programme.

The original version of the selected films with English subtitles (or French subtitles in the case of a film in the original English version) must be received no later than the date indicated in the technical charter. The prints must be fully tested before being sent to FIDMarseille. The festival will not be able to check the visual and sound continuity of the films received. Films may be sent either electronically, by secure file transfer, or physically by post or by handing them in at the FIDMarseille office. Copies and/or hard drives must be labeled with the title of the film and the name of the director. The cost of sending the copies and customs duties are the responsibility of the senders. The festival will cover the cost of returning the selected prints.

Prizes will be awarded during the Closing Ceremony of the festival, on 12 July 2026.

In case of a tie, the award money will be divided in two.

The members of the juries are appointed by the festival team in agreement with its Board of Directors. The juries are composed of professionals from the film industry, from the artistic and cultural world, foreign and French. No one associated in any way with the production or marketing of one of the films in competition may be a member of the jury.

The festival works to promote, support and accompany the films in the Official Selection in the context of off-site programming in France and abroad. The festival reserves the right to use these films free of charge for annual FID+ programming.

Films selected in competition will be given an accreditation for the director and a representative of the production.

Directors, producers and distributors of films selected for the festival agree to include the FIDMarseille selection at the beginning of the credits, with the festival logo and the competitive or non-competitive section of the film. The directors, producers and distributors of the winning films at the festival undertake to mention the prize awarded to them in their press kits and other promotional material (posters, postcards, etc.), as well as during any screening of the winning film (festival insert to be added at the beginning of the credits in the screening material) and during the national release of the film. The official selection logo for the relevant year, as well as the logo of any award that may have been won, will be sent to the contact provided in the submission form. Participation in the festival implies the authorisation to broadcast ⎼ on national, regional or international television channels as well as on any other communication and promotional medium of FIDMarseille or its partners (website, social networks) ⎼ excerpts limited to 10% of the total duration of the film and in no case exceeding 3 minutes, or still images. Furthermore, the rights holders authorise FIDMarseille, free of charge, to make an audiovisual montage of extracts from several of the films selected for the festival (in particular the award-winning films) and to broadcast them on all media for the purpose of promoting FIDMarseille, and this for a period of one year from the date of the unveiling of the selection, at the beginning of June 2026, tacitly renewable. For the purposes of communication and promotion, the director and the rights holder(s) of the selected film(s) undertake to provide still and/or moving images of which they own the full rights, or which are free of rights. In the event of a dispute, FIDMarseille cannot be held responsible for the use of an image whose rights belong to a legal entity other than the one that has validated the present transfer of rights.

The festival bears the cost of insuring the copies, from the moment they are received until the moment they are sent back. In case of loss or damage during this period, the festival is only responsible for the value of the copy. Only copies in good condition will be accepted.

The association Festival international de cinéma de Marseille is committed to ensuring that the collection and processing of personal data comply with the General Data Protection Regulation of April 27th 2016 (RGPD) and the French Data Protection Act of January 6th 1978.
Personal data collected by the site and purposes pursued
FIDMarseille does not sell personal data. This data is only processed within the framework of the services offered or for statistical purposes for the subscription to the newsletter (validation of this regulation constitutes acceptance of the subscription to the newsletter) and for the creation of an account on fidmarseille.org. It is possible to unsubscribe from the newsletter via a link on each letter or to delete one’s account on the site in the My Account area. The e-mail address and all other data provided will then be deleted from our database.
Duration of storage of personal data
Personal data is kept until the user deletes his account.
Recipients of the data
Access to data collected on the site is strictly limited to the FIDMarseille team and, where applicable, to its duly appointed subcontractors. Any subcontractors are subject to compliance with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (RGPD). No personal information is collected without the user’s knowledge or transferred to third parties.
Rights on the personal data collected
In accordance with the French Data Protection Act of 6 January 1978, the user has the right to access, rectify, modify and delete data concerning him/her. To exercise these rights, the user may contact FIDMarseille by e-mail (welcome@fidmarseille.org) or by post (14 allée Gambetta, 13001 Marseille).
If a user considers that his/her personal data has not been processed in accordance with the regulations in force, it is possible to lodge a complaint with the CNIL via the following link: https://www.cnil.fr/fr/plaintes.

The President of the Festival International de Cinéma de Marseille association, organizer of the FIDMarseille, is authorized to settle all cases not provided for in the present rules. The registration of films for the festival implies full acceptance of the rules and regulations, only the French text being authentic.
