Plutôt mourir que mourir

Natacha Nisic

What is it that brings images together? And experiences? Aby Warburg, a pivotal figure in the history of art, was a founding academic in the creation of iconology. At the end of World War I, he fell into a deep psychosis that he got over thanks to a talk he gave on a ritual among Hopis Indians whom he had met twenty years before. Halfway between public speech and speculative inquiry, conjuring up his diary but also the images which were his own material, Natacha Nisic weaves, since this original, famous and disturbing link, a diffracted portrait of the historian which looks like an array of potential constellations.
