A woman bangs her head against a wall with all the hysterically-funny brutality of Monty Python’s monks; a mouth devours €10 notes; a book is emptied of all its words; a woman turns into a ping-pong ball, sent flying from racket to racket. Four cobbled-together devices recreate Muybridge’s invention in their own way, deconstructing and reconstructing movement by means of retinal persistence. Not content to use metaphor for cinema, they also reactivate its burlesque ingredients at the same time.
