Beuys

Andres Veiel

Beuys the media figure, Beuys the political activist, Beuys the artist, Beuys the agitator… In his film, Andreas Veiel gives a personal interpretation of the man with the fedora hat, thirty years after his passing. Made almost exclusively of visual and sound archives, some of them released for the first time, combined with exclusive interviews of some of the artist’s closest relations, like Caroline Tisdall, the film dives into his life and work, showing the complexity of the man and the artist in the context of his own time. Andreas Veiel also uses his laugh as a leitmotif, in response to Beuys’ famous remark: “Do you want a revolution without laughter?”  (NF)
