Special Screenings2021 Program
Région Sud Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur
The South Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region supports and accompanies cinematic and audio-visual creation and production through several funds for writing, development and production.
Within the framework of this action and the support offered by the South Region to FIDMarseille, the following film will be presented in the presence of the film’s team (director, actors, producers, partners).
Casa de Velázquez
In the framework of a partnership between Casa de Velázquez in Madrid and FIDMarseille, a special screening is dedicated to the work of the artist Adrian Schindler. Adrian Schindler’s practice explores the links between historical events and the cultural and ideological production of the State, while examining their effects on subjectivities.
His projects, which are often collaborative, take the form of performances, videos, installations, publications, as well as public encounters.
This work in progress session will begin with a screening of his short film, The Fig, the Spine, the Shield co-directed in 2020 with Eulàlia Rovira. Adrian Schindler will then discuss his first feature film, currently in development: Tetuan, Tetuán, تطوان.
Through the prism of the ghost, this film seeks out the traces that the colonial past in Morocco has left on Spanish society, both in cultural production, public space and in the collective imagination. The film will be shot between Barcelona (in particular Plaça de Tetuan), Madrid (the Tetuán de las Victorias neighborhood) and Tetouan (the «Español» cinema) in a choral manner with a group of actors, researchers and activists from both Morocco and Spain, encouraging a polyphonic critical space as well as the emergence of other forms of narratives.

FIDMarseille is a member of the Doc Alliance association, a partnership between seven European festivals
Doc Alliance’s aim is to support directors and producers in broadcasting their films to the public. The goal of Doc Alliance is to boost and promote the diversity of films screened in these seven festivals and to share them with as many people as possible via two initiatives: Doc Alliance Selection and the Video-on-Demand portal dafilms.fr.
DocAlliance is also a dynamic SVOD (subscription videoon-demand) platform offering an alternative circulation for films that often struggle to break into the market.
The portal currently offers permanent access to almost 1000 movies. For more information and to see the entire film catalogue, please visit: www.dafilms.fr
In early July, FIDMarseille will be presenting a selection of films from previous editions on the platform, available on the dafilms.fr site.
