Grand prix d’honneur

2021 Program

Apichatpong Weerasethakul, one of the greatest living directors, will be the 32th FIDMarseille edition’s Grand Prix d’Honneur.
In addition to a retrospective in his presence, Apichatpong Weerasethakul will give a masterclass Wednesday, July 21st.
As a reminder, Apichatpong Weerasethakul received the Palme d’or of the 63rd Cannes Film Festival in 2010 for UNCLE BOONMEE. He has already been awarded with the Jury Prize of the Cannes Film Festival in 2004 for TROPICAL MALADY and in 2002, he has been awarded of Un Certain Regard prize for BLISSFULLY YOURS. His last movie, MEMORIA, with Tilda Swinton and Jeanne Balibar, is part of the Official Competition in the Cannes selection this year.
His first movie MYSTERIOUS OBJECT AT NOON, has been selected in the International Competition and was shown as a French Premiere at FID 2000. Apart from this first movie, this filmmaker was at FIDMarseille with THE ANTHEM (Out of competition, 2006), PHANTOMS OF NABUA (International Competition, 2009), MOBILE MEN (Out of Competition, 2011).
In 2007, he was the International Competition Jury’s president.
