The association International Film Festival Marseille – FIDMarseille is recruiting
an artistic director, co-director of the FID

For 32 years, the association International Film Festival Marseille has been organising FIDMarseille every July: an international film festival with competitive sections, a world and international premiere policy, and prestigious guests. The festival pays close attention to contemporary film writing, and is open to all audiences.

During the week of the festival, the association organises:

– FIDLab – an international co-production platform for professionals;
– FIDCampus – a training residency for international students.

Throughout the year, FIDMarseille :
• Organises numerous screenings, is offered carte blanche worldwide and organises monthly film events in Marseille.
• Pursues its action to make films accessible to all audiences.
• Initiates and takes part in European and international projects.

Job description

Under the authority of the Chairman of the association and in close collaboration with the General Secretary, co-director of FIDMarseille, the Artistic Director, co-director of FIDMarseille will :

– Develop a programme in keeping with the original identity of the festival.
– Strengthen the image of the festival for local, regional and national audiences.
– Continue to develop the reputation of the festival for professionals through the quality of the international competition, retrospectives, the renown of the guests and the organisation of professional events such as FIDLab, FIDCampus, and various professional meetings.
– Implement actions to attract new audiences to the festival and especially young audiences
– Implement synergies with various cultural institutions of the local authorities (City of Marseille, Département des Bouches-du-Rhône, Métropole, and the Region Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur).
– Seek private funding (sponsors, partnerships…).
– Manage a team of selectors (a selection committee of 6 people).

Profile required

– Perfect knowledge of international film networks (filmmaking, production, distribution…) with several years of successful experience with similar responsibilities.
– Familiar with the development of partnerships.
– Rigour, adaptability, organisational and anticipation skills.
– A taste for team work.
– Good writing and interpersonal skills.
– Fluency in French and English.

This position requires excellent interpersonal skills, a high level of availability and a permanent presence in Marseille
