CineFID

FID wishes to support other films apart the Official Selection.
Films met on our journeys in other festivals, undistributed in France but discovered and appreciated films. Films from all over the world, films of all kind but hightly attractive.
What is CinéFID about ?
It is about increasing, punctually, in the form of a monthly appointment at the Cinema Les Variétés, the offer of releases by offering films that are both very accessible, attractive, with a certain spice. These sessions will be animated. By the director, an actor or a specialist of the genre, depending on the occurrences. In short, "surprise" films, of which the FID is the guarantor, on the quality and on the astonishment in the end. It is also a way of catching up remarkable films from the forgetfulness they are likely to be promised.

The co-operative Travelling Marseille presents on Sunday April 30,2017 at Les Variétés theater the DIMANCHE DE LA CANEBIÈRE #4 : «MARSEILLE AU CINÉMA»

Program is proposed by Image de ville, FIDMarseille and FFM in collaboration with Les Variétés

FrenchConnection2:00 pm :
FRENCH CONNECTION by William Friedkin (1972 / 2015 Restored version /USA-104')
Preceded by the short film PETITE BLONDE by Emilie Aussel (France/2013-15')
William Friedkin's gritty police drama portrays two tough New York City cops trying to intercept a huge heroin shipment coming from France. An interesting contrast is established between 'Popeye' Doyle, a short-tempered alcoholic bigot who is nevertheless a hard-working and dedicated police officer, and his nemesis Alain Charnier, a suave and urbane gentleman who is nevertheless a criminal and one of the largest drug suppliers of pure heroin to North America.

LeRendezVousDesQuais4:30 pm : LE RENDEZ-VOUS DES QUAIS by Paul Carpita (France/1955-1h15)
Preceded by his short film MARSEILLE SANS SOLEIL (France/1960-20')
Marseille, 1953. Robert Fournier, a young docker, wants to live with Marcelle, who is employed in a biscuit factory. But the apartments are inaccessible to the finances of the two young people. To get housing more easily, Robert will reduce his union activities and, during a strike, will dissociate himself from his comrades and become a "yellow".
Prohibited by censorship, "the Rendez-vous des quais" was never projected and even the copies were thought to have been destroyed for thirty-three years.
